Notes: A full page wood engraved artwork from The Illustrated Sporting and Dramatic News, 1878. This antique engraving shows the wealthy and well dressed crowds gathering on the lawns at Goodwood for the races. This artwork was completed by Dower Wilson. Published on page 522 of the August 10th, 1878 edition of The Illustrated Sporting and Dramatic News. This was a popular publication through the 1870s and 1880s that targeted a niche market, with its articles and illustrations focusing on Sports and Theatre; its pages and beautiful illustrations are now quite scarce and are not easily found. We are pleased to be able to offer a collection of the accomplished wood engravings and lithographs from this historical publication, such as this one by Dower Wilson.
