Notes: An original antique etching drawn by Sawrey Gilpin (RA) and etched by J. Scott. This charming little foxhound was created around 1790 and bears original hand colour, also by S. Gilpin.
J. Scott was one of the earliest illustrators of dog breeds. Scott was a master at his art as the detail in his engravings is superb. He produced a set of engravings of sporting dog breeds in the early 1800s which are some of the first illustrations of some breeds.
This artwork has been presented in a lined mount, framed and glazed; with hanging attachments on the back.
